How to install Illustrator scripts

This article will show you how to install Illustrator scripts. For a better understanding, we have a few instructions mentioned in the tutorial below.

How To install Illustrator Scripts on Windows

  1. In order to install scripts in illustrator, unzip the downloaded file to your favorite location in the computer.
  2. Navigate to the “C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CC 2017\Presets\en_US\Scripts” and paste the script (.jsx file) provided inside the zip file into the Scripts folder.
  3. Navigate to the “C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CC 2017\Presets\en_US\Actions” and paste the Action file (.aia file) provided inside the zip file into the Actions folder.
  4. If Adobe Illustrator is open, please close and restart. A restart is necessary for the scripts to run properly.

How To install Illustrator Scripts on MAC

  1. In order to install scripts in illustrator unzip the downloaded file to your favorite location in the computer.
  2. Navigate to the “Applications>Adobe Illustrator>Presets>en_US>Scripts” and paste the script (.jsx file) provided inside the zip file into the Scripts folder.
  3. Navigate to the “Applications>Adobe Illustrator>Presets>en_US>Actions” and paste the Action (.aia file) provided inside the zip file into the Actions folder.
  4. If Adobe Illustrator is open, please close and restart. A restart is necessary for the scripts to run properly.
Things to remember during installation.
  • If your script is not working, try restarting Illustrator one more time.
  • If you have a very old version of Adobe Illustrator. Kindly update to the latest version and then try running the scripts. Some scripts will require a newer version to run.
  • Running the Automation Action multiple times on the same artwork could crash your Illustrator, because it doesn’t support multi threading. So, please be patient and run only one script at a time.
  • If you are unable to see the Action panel after installation, please navigate to the Window Tab and make sure Action is checked.
